Do I need any prior sewing experience to join a beginners' sewing class?

Most beginners' classes are designed for those with little to no sewing experience, so you're welcome to join as a complete novice. If experience is required for that class, it will be listed in the description.

What materials and supplies should I bring to the class?

If you are taking Sewing 101, or any of our Afterschool kids programs all materials are included. With some of our classes, you can get the package where materials can be purchased for an additional fee, or you will receive an email with a listing of materials. Sewing machines will be available for use in the studio.

How much does it cost to attend a sewing class for beginners?

The cost can vary depending duration of the class. All prices are listed on the website to view before purchasing.

What will I learn in a beginners' sewing class?

You'll learn the basics of operating a sewing machine, stitching techniques, reading patterns, and creating simple projects like a tote bag or pillowcase

Do I need to have my own sewing machine, or can I use one provided by the class?

While it is good to Bring your own sewing machine to learn from it, it is not necessary as we have some in the studio.

Is it necessary to buy a sewing pattern, or will they be provided in the class?

In some cases, patterns may be provided as part of the class materials. However, you might also learn how to use commercial sewing patterns.

What should I wear to the sewing class?

Comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a bit messy is a good choice. Closed-toe shoes are often recommended for safety

How long does a typical beginners' sewing class last?
